About Us

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), with funding assistance from the Federal Highway Administration, is sponsoring a training program that introduces interested individuals to the highway construction trades. The pre-employment training was initiated in response to a review of contractors' compliance with federal diversity requirements in past projects which showed that there is a need for increased participation of females and minorities on state and federal funded construction projects.

Participants benefit from the program through specialized training that will increase their employability as well as having access to employment opportunity availability in the highway construction and maintenance industries. The program also benefits contractors by bringing them into contact with the participants at graduation thereby assisting them in their efforts to employ a diversified workforce.
